Discover this new publication by CLEARING HOUSE partners Manuel Wolff and Dagmar Haase in collaboration with Jörg Priess and Tobias Leander Hoffmann. The publication focuses on the role of brownfields and their revitalisation for the functional connectivity of the urban tree system in a regrowing city
CLEARING HOUSE is a Research and Innovation H2020 project which among several objectives, aims to create business and investment cases for Urban Forests as Nature Based Solutions (UF-NBS) on the basis of increased evidence about environmental, social and economic benefits.
Europe’s forest provide multiple ecosystem services for societies, ranging from provisioning (e.g. wood) and regulating (e.g. climate mitigation and biodiversity) to cultural (e.g. recreation) services.
From 13-15 September 2022, the first post-covid in-person CLEARING HOUSE General Assembly took place in Gelsenkirchen Germany. The event gathered most consortium members and was an opportunity for everyone to meet and discuss the project in a more in-depth and casual manner.
“The role of cities in the light of the health of people and the planet alike, is undeniably crucial. While cities only make up about 2% of terrestrial areas, more than 50% of the World’s population is already living in cities (Pincetl, 2017). This trend of urbanization is expected to continue to grow into a staggering 65% of the world population living in cities by 2040 (weforum, 2019). ”
Cortinovis Chiara, Geneletti Davide and Haase Dagmar analyzed the density trends of more than 300 European cities, key indicators of urban developments and sustainable opportunities in cities.
How can spatial patterns and ecosystem service delivery of Nature-Based Solutions be identified? Guerrero Paulina, Haase Dagmar and Albert Christian have tried to answer that question in one of their latest papers.
CLEARING HOUSE inspirational package ‘City of Trees’ was a guest at ‘Talentboost’ in Brussels the last week of July. Talentboost is a linguistic bath for children who are non-native newcomers of 4 weeks in Brussels.
Discover this paper by Basnou Corina, Pino Joan, Davies Clive, Winkel Georg and De Vreese Rik, which focuses on the co-design processes to address Nature-Based Solutions demands and plan urban infrastructures in an inclusive manner.
